Two is Better than One!

After much thought and careful consideration we have decided to adopt not one child but TWO! More spacifically a young sibling set under five years. We are hoping for a boy and a girl, maybe twins. Grace will still be the oldest, and ideally, Ally would still be the youngest but we have decided not to be too specific. At this point, we are sure that whomever we get was meant to be our children and we'll love them!

We're Getting Somewhere!

Wednesday was our last meeting with our social worker! She also has all our paperwork. With any luck, she will have our full homestudy report finished by Thursday (May 24th) and we can submit our first round of paperwork to USCIS (U.S. Immigration). This is good news because Michigan is notoriously SLOW for processing these forms. Hopefully, we won't have to wait TOO long for a fingerprint appointment either.

Once we are fingerprinted and the USCIS approves our form (called an I600A) then they send us a 171h. This document basically approves us to bring a foreign orphan into the country. Once we are closer to the end and have all the specifics about our kids, we'll submit the I600, which will get them visas to enter the country.

We are still a long way from that point, but nice to feel like we are accomplishing something!

Latest news...

Well there is not much to report on the adoption front these past couple weeks. We have our second homestudy interview out of the way, waiting on the third and final one. Once that is done our homestudy report should be in our agency's hands and we can (hopefully) be waiting for a referral by mid-July! Of course that wait could end up being 6 months long, there is always the possibility of it being much sooner.
